PIN Number and Email Address
Please keep your PIN (personal identification number) in a safe place. If you lose or forget it, you will have to register a new PIN number at the circulation desk. PINs cannot be changed by phone call to the library.
If you know your old PIN number, you can change it when you view your account. Click on the Change Pin button, enter your old PIN and type in the new PIN that you want to use. It has to be entered twice.  Then click on Submit Change. You can also request that your PIN be changed when you are in the library.

Rules for Renewing Items

You may renew any items, including overdue items and DVD's (which incur a $.50 rental fee), until a maximum amount of $10.00 has been charged to your account.

Beyond the $10.00 maximum, items will NOT renew. The red message (see below) will appear.

You may renew an item that you have borrowed ONLY ONCE.

Items that are on HOLD for another library user, cannot be renewed.

Note: there is no way for you to tell if an item is on hold for another user by viewing your account. If you try to renew an item that has a hold on it, you will receive the message "One or more items could not be renewed." (See below).

Renewing Items
To renew an item, click in the tiny box to the left of each item that you want to renew.
Click on the Renew Checked Items button.
YOU MUST THEN CHECK THE MESSAGE THAT WILL APPEAR AT THE TOP OF YOUR ACCOUNT
If your items have been renewed correctly, a BLUE line appears:

Item(s) have been renewed.

If any or all of your items have NOT been renewed correctly, a RED line appears:

One or more items cannot be renewed. Check at the circulation desk.

If you get this message, you need to call the library. Some or all of your items have not been renewed.
In order to avoid overdue fines, it is VERY important that you make sure your items have been renewed properly.
You may want to write the new date that your items are due back in the library on the date slip on the item.
In case of disputes, the library computer system will be the final guide by which overdue fines will be charged.
Print a copy of your patron review screen when you have renewed items so that you know the new due date of your items. This receipt will be needed in case of any fine disputes.

Holds: Placing a Hold
From your home computer, you can place a hold on an item that another library user has checked out so that you will be notified when the item is returned.  Holds may also be placed at the library or by phone.
There is a $.50 charge for placing holds.
Holds can only be placed on items that are not currently available in the library.
Holds - Types: There are two types of holds.
Title holds are placed on a title and you will be notified when that title is returned to the library. If there are multiple copies of a title and they are all checked out, you will be notified when any one of the copies is returned to the library. Title holds work best for books that have multiple copies.
Placing a Hold
Step One: When you search our library catalog and find a title that you want to borrow and discover that it is checked out to someone else, click on the Place Hold button to the left of the title. SKIP TO STEP TWO
Patron Review - Holds Section
In this section, you will see any holds that you have placed on materials.  The title of the item is listed along with the date that you placed the hold.

If you have a hold on an item that has not yet been returned to the library, it will be listed as “Pending” in the Status column.  The Position in Hold List column shows where you stand in the list of library users waiting for the item.  If you are listed as “1”, you will be the next person to get the item when it is returned to the library.

If you have a hold on an item that has been returned to the library, it will be listed as “Arrived” in the Status column. In the Pickup Location column, it will show that you can pick it up at the library.  The Position in Hold List column will show “Arrived” meaning that the book is ready for you to pick up.  You will also be notified by telephone when an item that you have placed a hold on is received in the library.
